St Farnan’s do enough to defeat Easkey

ST FARNAN’S EASKEY 0- 12 0- 8 At half time St. Farnan’s led 0- 6 to 0- 4.

After the break Easkey got the first two points to level matters, both from frees taken by Joe Mc Hugh.

St. Farnan’s had a goal chance which hit the crossbar.

Ciaran O’Connor pointed a free to give St. Farnan’s the lead.

It was short- lived as both Mikey Gordon and Emmet Healy pointed for Easkey.

St. Farnan’s, however began to dominate and scored the last five points of the game without reply.

The points came from two frees by Ciaran O’Connor, a point each from Eamonn Kilgannon, James Hynes and Shane Neary.

Easkey introduced Thomas Rolston in the second half while St. Farnan’s introduced Greg Feeney’s, Finnian Cawley and Iarla O’Connor .

The intensity of the rivalry did not make this game into a great spectacle for supporters.

St. Farnan’s will be glad of the win whilst Easkey will be disappoint­ed with their second defeat in the championsh­ip.

Easkey had good performanc­es from goalkeeper Shane Kilgannon, Noel McGuire and Eugene Mullen amongst others.

St. Farnan’s had Ciaran and Patrick O’Connor, James Hynes, Mattie Lang, Eamonn Kilgannon and young players Kevin Mc Gee and Mark Devaney performing well.
