Rounders on a roll in Easkey
ROUNDERS started in Easkey in 2013. That year the U13 Girls brought home the Plate from the Féile in Portlaoise, thus beginning a love of Rounders in the locality.
Easkey is the first and only GAA Rounder’s Club in Co. Sligo - officially established in October 2015 to offer more sporting opportunities for the young girls in the community.
Currently there are 34 girls U13/ U15 registered and 3 coaches. “We are a small club but make up for it in enthusiasm, our team motto is Together Everyone Achieves More,” explains the club PRO.
As a team sport rounders is a very inclusive game and can be enjoyed by people with special needs due to its non- contact nature.
This year, the U13 and U15 teams have travelled to many competitions, and again attended Féile in Longford.
The U13s in particular played extremely well, and proudly came home as close Runners- up.
This same team also competed in the Community games Finals last weekend in Abbotstown and Easkey GAA is proud of their achievements to date.
