WILD CHILD DAY

Wednesday, August 23, is Wild Child Day which is about encouragin­g children to get out and discover and experience nature. Dromahair Dev Ass/ Tidy Towns in conjunctio­n with Dromahair Anglers are organising an event on the river Bonet at 6 p. m. for children and adults, ‘ Take a walk on the wild side..’ Get to know your local river.

Come along to Dromahair Community park at 6 p. m., there is lots on the agenda, fishing instructio­n, talks on the flora and fauna, science of the river and fly tying demonstrat­ion. If you have fishing tackle please bring it along. Bring all the family.

CLOTHES RECYCLING

There will be a clothing recycling drive in aid of St Patrick’s and Dromahair Ladies’ GAA Clubs. Collection point: Pavillion, Dromahair Community Park. Collection times and dates: Tuesdays ( 6 p. m. to 8 p. m.) and Saturdays ( 10 p. m. to 2 p. m.) till September 2.

Please donate all your clean unwanted clothes, also bed linen, towels, curtains, shoes, bags, belts and soft toys. Wearable clothes will be recycled and re- used and other items will be recycled for items, such as, industrial wipes or soundproof­ing. No household bric- a- brac.

LIBRARY NEWS

The popular summer Stars Reading programme is continuing in your local library. It’s a free programme and open to all children. Each child who registers can join in the fun of reading lots of exciting books during the summer. Fun rewards will be provided along the way.

At the end of the programme, all children who have participat­ed will be invited to attend our celebrator­y awards event. Those that have completed the six book challenge will have their names entered in a draw for the overall prize of a bike.

5K FUN WALK/ RUN

Dromahair CPR/ Defibrilla­tor group are having their annual 5K fun Walk/ Run in Dromahair on Sunday, August 27, at 6 p. m. ( registrati­on from 5 p. m. in the Depot). Spot Prizes and refreshmen­ts after in the Depot, Please Support this worthy cause.

The Redemptori­st Mission will take place in Dromahair from September 9 to September 17, so mark it in your diary.

The Depot Office is now open Monday to Friday morning from 9.45 a. m. to 1.30 p. m. We offer a full range of office services. Photocopyi­ng, typing, printing, laminating and internet access. All services available at very reason- able rates. Want to book the Depot for a class or function? Take the hassle out of birthday parties by holding it in the Depot, lots of tables and chairs and kitchen facilities. Space indoor for bouncy castle, no worries about the weather.

Janet, who is a primary teacher, moved from Kinlough to Greystones a few years ago to take up employment there. She usually plays at scrum- half ( No 9) for Greystones and was appointed captain of for the 2016/ 17 season.

Her performanc­es were so good during the season in the Leinster Division Three league campaign that Greystones awarded Janet their prestigiou­s Women’s Rugby Player of the Year accolade. Meantime Janet won a trial place for the Leinster Rugby team trials in May 2016.

Recently Janet celebrated important event in her life when she married her local Kinlough sweetheart and star, Melvin Gaels player, Declan Roper. Family and friends afterwards joined in the celebratio­n of this happy event in Janet and Declan’s life at the wedding reception in Sligo’s Clayton Hotel.

LOUGH DERG BUS

All travelling on the bus, which transports pilgrims from the St Clare’s Church car park Manorhamil­ton to Lough Derg for the one day pilgrimage on this Saturday, August 26, are reminded that the bus departure will be at 8.15 p. m. No late arrivals – the bus will depart as scheduled.

STRICTLY DANCING

The promoters of Glenfarne’s Rainbow Ballroom of Romance are delighted to announce another Strictly Sensation with the Dylan Quinn Dance Theatre, who will be putting dancers through their paces for shows over October Bank Holiday weekend.

Classes in preparatio­n for the forthcomin­g shows will take place in the Rainbow on Thursday and Saturday nights from 7 p. m. to 8.15 p. m. There are still a few more dancers places left for the end of October shows – emailrainb­owstrictly: gmail. com for more details.

TIDY- UP

The next Manorhamil­ton Tidy Towns Committee weekly tidy- up session takes place on this Tues- day evening ( tonight), August 22 between 7 p. m. and 8 p. m.

The Tidy Towns Committee invites everyone to volunteer for a hour to help out with this cleanup. All Tidy Towns clean- up volunteers are asked to report to the Bee Park Community Centre at 7 p. m. on tonight when the weekly tidy- up will get under way.
