LOTTO DRAW

The Geevagh Community Resource lotto draw was held in Des McDonagh’s Bar on Saturday, August 12, for a jackpot of € 8,500. The numbers drawn were 5, 9, 13 and 24. There was no winner. The next draw for a jackpot of € 8,600 will be held on Saturday, August 19, in Paddy’s Bar. The winners of € 20 each were Eamon Tighe, Ballindoon; Ann McDonagh, Drumbeg North; Dink; T. and Madeleine Tansey, Geevagh and Tom, Maureen and Cinders, c/ o Shivnan’s.

DEATH

The death occurred recently at Sligo Regional Hospital of Michael Peter Conlon, Geevagh. A very popular and well- known figure he ran the family pub in Geevagh for many years. He was also very well known in farming circles and over the years he bred many prize winning Charolais cattle. When serving in the shop children were always given the extra sweet or two such was his affection for children and indeed his generosity towards them.

His remains were taken to St Joseph’s Church, Geevagh on Sunday evening, August 13, and burial took place on Monday in Corrig cemetery following Requiem Mass. Deepest sympathy is extended to Mary, Kathleen, Paddy Joe and Tommy John, sister Maura Mullarkey, grandchildren, in laws relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

PIONEER ASSOCIATION

The Geevagh Pioneer Association wish to thank all who bought tickets, helped sell tickets or helped in any other way with the recent draw. The total raised was € 494. The list of prize winners are: Tom O’Rourke, Pádraig Fallon, Mary Sweeney, Fr L. Cullen, John Davey, Ita Lavin and Eimear McDonagh.

TRACTOR RUN

Geevagh GAA Club are holding a tractor run on Sunday, August 27, It will begin at 3 p. m. from the Resource Centre and the entry fee is € 20. Refreshments will be served afterwards in the Resource centre and all support will be much appreciated.
