Huge interest as Sligo Super Cup is returning for the second year

THE Sligo Super Cup, which took place for the first time in April, is set to return in 2018.

Organisers revealed that the popular U12 tournament will run from May 4th to 6th, 2018.

The closing date for receipt of expression­s of interest from clubs is the 30th of November 2017.

As before a total of 8 teams ( 2 groups of 4 teams) with group games on Friday & Saturday and playoff games on the Sunday. 9v9 format.

Already there is a lot of interest from clubs looking to take part in the tournament.

The Sligo Super Cup was jointly hosted by Sligo Rovers and the Sligo Leitrim Schoolboys League, staged at Sligo Showground­s.

Teams which took part in April were Celtic, Sheffield Wednesday, Linfield, Donegal League, Dublin District Schoolboys League ( DDSL), Club Northern Ireland, Mayo Schoolboys League and the hosts, Sligo Leitrim Schoolboys League.

The tournament, the first of its kind ever staged in the county, featured the future soccer stars of tomorrow while also showcasing the tremendous facilities at the Sean Fallon Centre at The Showground­s.

After a fantastic tournament, with some top class football, the inaugural winners of the Sligo Super Cup were the Dublin District Schoolboys League ( DDSL). It’s full steam ahead now for the second year of the tournament.
