Driver released following ‘Kinahan cartel’ cash raid
A Sligo lorry driver (41) has been released by Gardaí after questioning for 24 hours after he was allegedly about to bring over €800,000 in cash to the continent. Detectives arrested him and another man (34) at a service station in Naas, last Friday around 10pm. A quantity of cash was seized totalling €829,265. Follow-up searches at the Sligo man’s home were carried out over the weekend. Detectives believe the cash was the proceeds of crime from the Kinahan cartel’s drug trafficking enterprise in Ireland.
