Culfadda fun walk raises €5000 for the hospice
About 35 - 40 people from Sligo, Roscommon and a couple of people from Dublin lined up at the start for the 1 o’ clock start of the Culfadda North West Hospice fun walk.
Quite a few of the participants were seasoned “Fun Walkers “who return every year for this 9 Km. event.
Some other “Walkers” did their ‘own thing’ and left before the official start due to other commitments but all wishing to contribute to a very worthy cause.
Weather conditions were close and humid with occasional short spells of ‘soft’ showers which according to some of the entrants had a ‘nice cooling effect.’
The first man and lady back at the community centre were a mother and son team - Una and John Dodd from Cloonloo. Refreshments, sponsored by Damien Tansey of Centra in Gurteen were available to all on their return. A Social event was held later in Higgins Lounge Culfadda with music provided by Mary Rose and Enda along with a raffle. Catherine O’ Leary from Northwest Hospice was there to thank every-one for their continued support.
So far the amount raised is just over 5,000 Euro with a bit more to come.
