RECENT DEATHS
The death took place on August 23 of Larry Gill, Leitrim Village, husband of Chris and brother – in-law of Frank Dwyer Killaraght. Sincere sympathy is extended to Chris and to all his relations and friends on their bereavement. May he rest in Peace.
The death took place in New England on August 25 of Annie Hessing née Gunning. She was sister of Breege Tighe, Cloonloo. Sincere sympathy is extended to Breege and the Tighe family and to all Annie’s relations and friends May she rest in peace.
BINGO
Bingo is on every Friday night at 8.30 p.m. in Gurteen Hall the jackpot is now €2,100 on 48 calls or less with a lotto jackpot of €900. Profits are shared for the hall upkeep and the local GAA Club Eastern Harps. Big 10th anniversary bingo on Friday, September 15.
BLOOD DONATION
The blood donation clinic will be in St Bridget’s Hall on Thursday, September 7, from 4.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Please go along to help as blood donations are always required.
FUNDRAISING SOCIAL
The launch night of fundraising for Niamh Flanagan, who is having treatment for osteo bone sarcoma at the Mater Hospital Dublin will take place at the Saddlers, Killaraght on next Friday night, September 8, with music by John Dolan. A group has been formed named ‘Niamh Flanagan’s Journey there’ to give support to the parents Denis and Liz and Emma and David.
The chairman is John Brennan: secretary Attracta Keville: treasurers Barry Rowe and Anna Dwyer: PRO Rachel Flanagan: vice-Chair Seán Flanagan: Assistant secretary Jacqueline O’Connor: Event Co-Ordinators Eamon Sharkey, Gabriel Regan and Anthony McKeon. Donations will be gratefully received through committee members and Fr Joe Caulfield PP.
DANCING CLASS
The Fahy School of dancing registered under the rules of An Comdhail will resume in Coleman Centre, Gurteen on Saturday next, September 9, from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. New beginners are welcome. Pre-school children are also catered for. Beginners welcome at any time during these hours. Enquiries to 087 3205484.
MUSIC CLASSES
Music classes at the Coleman Music Centre, Gurteen – an information evening and registration will take place on this Thursday, September 7, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Teachers in attendance PJ Hernon – Button Accordion: Shane McGowan Guitar ; Fiona Doherty – fiddle, flute, banjo, mandolin, tin whistle: Junior Davey – Bodhran: Maureen O’Dowd – keyboard and Piano Accordion: Michael Hurley – whistle flute and fiddle: Sarah Jane Woods – Concertina.
