LOTTO DRAW

The Geevagh Community Resource lotto draw was held in Killoran’s Bar on Saturday, August 26, for a jackpot of €8,700. The numbers drawn were 14, 20, 23 and 29. There was no winner. The next draw for a jackpot of €8,800 will be held on Saturday, September 2, in Paddy’s Bar. The winners of €20 each were Séamus Lavin, Highwood; Bernie Archer, CLASP; Mairéad Gallagher, Alderford, Ballyfarno­n; S& J Cullen, Tappe and Séamus McManus, Geevagh.

HOSPICE COFFEE

The annual coffee morning in aid of Hospice will take place nationwide on Thursday, September 14, This is the 25th year of coffee mornings for Hospice and here in this area we have been hosting the event for many of those 25 years. This year the event will be held on the weekend of September 16/17 of after the Masses in St Joseph’s Church. This is a very important part of fundraisin­g for Hospice and all money raised locally is spent locally. Your support will be very much appreciate­d.

TEACH CEOIL

There will be an open evening in the Morrison Teach Ceoil in Riverstown on Monday, September 11, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. This will give those interested a chance to enrol for classes in the following instrument­s Button Accordion, Tin Whistle, Flute, Fiddle, Banjo, Concertina, Bodhrán, Guitar. DEATH

The death occurred recently in Boston of Josie Lydon, née Moran, formerly of Ummeryroe. Deepest sympathy is extended to her family, relatives and friends.

CARRAN WALKERS

Carran Walkers have re-scheduled the walk to Tobar Ailbhe for Sunday, September 10, just after the 9.15 a.m. Mass (c.10 a.m.). This walk is about 10km. Please meet in the car park at the pump. Sean nós Dancing sean nós Dancing with Eimear Mulvey is back in the Morrison Teach Ceoil, Riverstown on Saturday, September 24, The time table is as follows beginners from 11.30 till midday, intermedia­te from midday till 12.30 and advanced is at 10.15 for an hour. BABY/TODDLER GROUP

Geevagh baby and toddler group are back meeting again after the summer break. They meet every Wednesday in the downstairs room of the playschool. It is a great opportunit­y for parents and/or carers to meet up and for the toddlers to enjoy some time with each other.
