The Sligo Champion

Cannonball delights!

-

HUNDREDS took to the centre of Sligo on Saturday evening to welcome the Cannonball Run.

The charity run which began in Dublin on Friday came to Sligo via Kinsale, Carlow, Limerick, Galway and Claremorris.

The colour and glamour of the event was there for all to see as it roared into the city centre shortly after 6.30pm with the rain holding off for the event which was a fundraiser for the Make a Wish Foundation.

The 160 cars, many of them in the supercar bracket such as McLaren, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Masseratti, Rolls Royce and Bentley left onlookers awe struck particularly the many children who turned out on a chilly but dry Saturday evening.

Cannonball 2017 left Sligo on Sunday morning from Sligo Retail Park in Carraroe before travelling on to Mullingar and Carlowand its finish in Kilkenny.
