Claiming disabilty money but was in Poland

A man submitted a form to Social Welfare stating his mother was still living with him in Enniscrone but she had returned to Poland for six months, Sligo District Court was told.

Andrezej Strozik of Atlantic Caravan Park, Enniscrone admitted a charge of forgery on July 16 th 2016 and one of using a false instrument on July 18th at Sligo Social Welfare Offices, Cranmore Road.

Inspector Donal Sweeney said a form had been submitted by the defendant to a social welfare officer who was conducting a review stating that his mother was residing with him in Enniscrone.

She was in receipt of Disability Allow- ance. The defendant told the court she had been in Poland for six months at that time.

She was now back in Enniscrone living with him. Judge Kevin Kilrane said it was a serious matter and adjourned the case to November 9 th, asking the defendant to return to court on that date with €300 which would be a fine.
