CRAFT CLASS

Creative crafts/pebble painting and clay modelling classes are starting in St Nathy’s Hall, Mullinabre­ena on Saturday, September 23 for four weeks. The 3 p.m. class is for 5-7-year-olds, 4.30 p.m. class 8 years plus. Details from breegemcgu­inness@ yahoo.com, 087 7525942.

KNOCKNASHE­E PROJECT

We were delighted to have welcomed Dr Dirk Brandherm and Cormac McSparron of the Knocknashe­e Project to St Nathy’s Hall recently for what was an interestin­g and revealing insight into the foundation­s of our community. It was fascinatin­g to learn of a possible Hunter Gatherer (Mesolithic) link.

We are looking forward to welcoming them back with the results of the laboratory analysis and future digs. Big thanks to all who helped out on the night.

ST NATHY’S LADIES

Good luck to the St Nathy’s Ladies, who play in the Sligo senior championsh­ip final on September 16.

ROCK GIG

Coolaney-Mullinabre­ena GAA are thrilled to announce the confirmati­on of an event sure to have a huge appeal near and far. A major rock gig headlining the superb talents of Sligo musicians, Shane McGowan, Séamie O’Dowd and Kieran Quinn will take place in St Brigid’s Hall, Tubbercurr­y on Friday, October 27, This brilliant trio of legends are widely renowned and tickets are sure to be in great demand. All proceeds go towards the park developmen­t fund.

GREENWAY PROMOTION

In an effort to draw attention to the huge potential local disused railway lines have if made into a greenway, Brendan Monaghan is cycling a route from Enniskille­n in Co. Fermanagh to Tuam in Co. Galway. Part of this particular route shadows the disused railway line running locally between Collooney and Bellaghy.

Mr Monaghan will be joined on his cycle through Co. Sligo by local supporters of the Greenway for Sligo Campaign. The cycle takes place on Saturday, September 16. All cyclists are welcome to join for all or part of the event. Contact 087 2512030 for more details on joining the cycle on the day – Collooney to Curry via Coolaney.
