RECENT DEATHS
The death took place on August 29 of James Corcoran, Townaghmore, Culfadda. Sincere sympathy is extended to his parents Jim and Katie, brothers Seán, Gurteen, Gerard, Tom and Adrian, sisters Lorraine Lavin and Cathriona Towey extended family and many relatives and friends. May he rest in Peace.
The death took place on August 29 of Agnes McGoldrick, Calry – she was sister of Eileen O’Gara, Cuppenagh, Cloonloo. Sincere sympathy is extended to Eileen and the O’Gara family on their bereavement May she rest in peace.
The death took place in London on August 26 of Carmel Giblin of Ballinrobe wife of John (junior) Giblin a native of Doon, Gurteen. Sincere sympathy is extended to junior and daughter Suzanne and to all the relatives and many friends on their bereavement. May she rest in peace.
FUNDRAISING SOCIAL
The launch night of fundraising for Niamh Flanagan, who is having treatment for osteo bone sarcoma at the Mater Hospital Dublin was held at the Saddlers, Killaraght on last Friday night, September 8.
A group has been formed named ‘Niamh Flanagan’s Journey there’ to give support to the parents Denis and Liz and Emma and David. the chairman is John Brennan: secretary Attracta Keville: treasurers Barry Rowe and Anna Dwyer: PRO Rachel Flanagan: vice-Chair Seán Flanagan: Assistant secretary Jacqueline O’Connor: Event Co-Ordinators Eamon Sharkey, Gabriel Regan and Anthony McKeon. Donations will be gratefully received through committee members and Fr Joe Caulfield PP.
NORTH WEST COFFEE DAY
A North West Hospice coffee day will be held in the Coleman Music Centre, Gurteen on this Thursday, September 14, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Come in a enjoy a cuppa – support for this worthy cause would be greatly appreciated.
MUSIC CLASSES
Music classes at the Coleman Music Centre, Gurteen – will commence on September 12/13/14 and all age groups catered for with family discounts. BINGO
Bingo is held every Friday night in Gurteen Hall at 8.30 p.m. – the jackpot of €2,100 was won last week but starts back again at €1,500 on 45 calls or less – lotto raffle is at €1,000. Any proceeds is shared between the Hall Committee and the Eastern Harps GAA Club. Big 10th anniversary bingo will be on Friday night September 15 – prize fund of €5,500 guaranteed.
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
Congratulations and good wishes to May Wynne, Cuilmore, Gurteen, who celebrated her 90th birthday recently with Mass in St Patrick’s Church Gurteen and a party afterwards in Teach Murray.
May and family are most grateful to everyone for all their cards, gifts, and generous donations to charity. A total of €1,300 was collected which was divided equally between North West Hospice and Crumlin Children’s Hospital – €650 was lodged to each Bank Account. The generosity is very much appreciated.
