1 PARKING DAY

PARKing Day is an annual worldwide public event when members of the public transform individual on-street car spaces into mini public parks for a day. PARK(ing) Day Sligo 2017 promises to be an even more lively event this year as a dozen or more separately located spaces around the city are transforme­d. The event takes place on Saturday, September 15th.

2 SIMON YATES

Mountainee­ring author, Simon Yates, is gearing himself up for a tour of Ireland to present the visually stunning and hugely entertaini­ng My Mountain Life. 3 SLIGO NIGHT SWIM

The 3rd Annual Sligo Night Swim will take place on Friday 15th of September (weather permitting). This swim is a leisure swim with the distance of the swim roughly being around 750m. The cost of the swim is €25 with 100% of the money raised going to Sligo Surf Lifesaving/Sligo Watersafet­y.

4 HOW’S YOUR FATHER

It’s the hilarious brand new comedy play from the cream of Irish comedy! Father and son team, Conal and Rory Gallen have written probably their funniest comedy play to date. It’s a side-splitting tale of love, deceit, mystery, bad food and a bit of “How’s Your Father” thrown in for good measure. ‘How’s Your Father’ comes to the Hawk’s Well Theatre on Friday, September 15th.

5 THE SYRIAN STORY

Listen to the stories of some of the Syrian refugees living in Ireland at The Model on Saturday, September 16th. There will be Syrian food along with cuisine from Nigeria and Zimbabwe. Fifty Syrians will be coming to The Model to share their story.

6 MIKE MC GOLDRICK, JOHN DOYLE, JOHN MCCUSKER

Traditiona­l music legends Mike McGoldrick, John Doyle and John McCusker perform together at the Hawk’s Well Theatre on Thursday the 14th of September. The trio first crossed paths as teenagers. A quarter of a century later, the fired-up folk live-wires are set to celebrate their friendship, and musical kinship, with their first studio album, The Wishing Tree. 7 HURLEY FAMILY

The Coleman Music Centre Gurteen, Co. Sligo is delighted to present Michael Hurley and Family in concert on Saturday, September 16th at 8.30pm. On stage will be the renowned and widely acclaimed traditiona­l musician, Michael Hurley who will be joined by his son, Sean

on tin whistle, fiddle and bodhrán, daughters, Deirdre flute player, singer and keyboard and Mairéad on concertina.

Lisa Cooper Dance Academy present their 2nd annual Magic Mile fun Run/ walk taking place on Sunday September 17th at 2pm from the boathouse at the back Avenue. Registrati­on will be taking place from 12pm. This is a guaranteed fun filled event for all the family and friends.

9 MIGRATION PROJECT WITH RACHEL WEBB

This series of six art workshops for children aged

8 - 12 starts on Tuesday 19th September at the Glens Centre in Manorhamil­ton, each session running from 5.30 - 7.30. Looking at how and why birds and people migrate into and out of Ireland, the similar and different reasons for leaving home to travel to a faraway place and more.

FLOW AFTER DARK SILENT YOGA DISCO

90 Minutes of Vinyasa Yoga to the fluid beats of guest DJ at the Salt and Soul Welness Studio on Friday, September 15th. Throughout the class, you’ll listen to chill out beats from DJ Michael Mulvey through noise-cancelling headphones. One of the Salt & Soul team will lead you through a 90-minute vinyasa-style class, which will leave you with a whole new feeling of Zen.
