All set for Coast race

THE fifth annual Coast to Coast run is taking place on Sunday, September 24th.

This ten mile race is organised by Sligo AC and is a popular event among athletes.

All profits from the race day are going to Family Carers Ireland.

The race is beginning at 12pm in Strandhill and ends in Rosses Point.

The annual event is sponsored by Call of the Wild.

The route is predominat­ely flat and it starts in Strandhill and finishes in Rosses Point.

It is perfect for those hoping to achieve a PB, for runners new to the 10 mile distance or those wishing to simply enjoy a scenic flat race along the beautiful Wild Atlantic Way.

The event distance, course and timing also fits nicely with marathon training with the Dublin Marathon 5 weeks later.

The coast of entry is €25 for 10 mile run/walk (0ver 18 only) and €10 for 5km Walk.

The 10 mile walk starts at 11.00am, Sunday 24th September at Sligo Rugby Club, Strandhill, where parking is available.

The walk is finishing in Rosses Point.

The 10 mile run starts at 12 noon at Sligo Rugby Club and also ends in Rosses Point.

The 5km walk is an out and back course from Sligo Yacht Club.

Note that there is not a 5k race taking place this year.

Participan­ts can collect Race number and T-shirt in Sligo Yacht club on 23rd September between 6pm-8pm and Sunday morning 24th September between 8.00am10.00am.

Buses will be provided to transport participan­ts from Rosses Point to the Rugby Club in Strandhill. The last bus will leave at 10:30.

There is a medal for all event finishers.

Prizes will be given to for 1st, 2nd & 3rd Male & Female across the line and also the Junior (18-20) category.

Participan­ts on the day can expect exceptiona­l hospitalit­y not only in terms of the post event food but also lots of local support encouragin­g runners along the route from Strandhill to Rosses Point.

This race is AAI Approved, accurately measured and accurately timed.
