CRAFT CLASS

Creative crafts/pebble painting and clay modelling classes will be taking place in St Nathy’s Hall, Mullinabre­ena starting on Saturday, September 23, for four weeks. 3 p.m. class is for five- to seven-year-olds, 4.30 p.m. class eight years plus. NACE O’DOWD PARK

Nace O’Dowd park is open again for activity with matches played there over the past six weeks. Many thanks to the hard working club committee for making this happen and to all the businesses who have come on board as park sponsors.

Sponsorshi­p opportunit­ies still remain. We are very proud now to have a top class facility available to the park users. Proof of the investment can be seen for all with the pitch in excellent condition despite all the recent heavy rainfall.

ROCK GIG

Coolaney-Mullinabre­ena GAA are thrilled to announce the confirmati­on of an event sure to have a huge appeal near and far. ‘TubbeRocks’, A major rock gig headlining the superb talents of Sligo musicians, Shane McGowan, Séamie O’Dowd, Kieran Quinn, Ken McDonald and Donal Cunnane will take place in St Brigid’s Hall, Tubbercurr­y on Friday, October 27, This brilliant trio of legends are widely renowned and tickets are sure to be in great demand.

All proceeds go towards the park developmen­t fund. So save the date and be sure not to miss out. Tickets will be available this week. Booing early is advisable.

The Roscommon Joint Policing Committee (JPC) was establishe­d under the Garda Síochána Act 2005 and is a partnershi­p between the Elected Members and staff of Roscommon County Council, Oireachtas Members, An Garda Síochána, and the community.

The Roscommon JPC is a forum where matters that affect policing in the county can be discussed. Cllr Rachel Doherty is the local public representa­tive on the committee and Brian Nerney is the local Business Community representa­tive.

CULTURE NIGHT

This year we are marking Culture Night in Boyle Library with the awards ceremony for all those children that have completed this year’s summer Stars challenge. This will take place in the Boyle Library on Friday, September 22, at 6.15 p.m. And will be followed at 6.30 p.m. by the wonderful Chris Thompson providing a storytelli­ng session for seven 10 years old.

POP UP EVENT

INSIDE (CRAFT) invites you to its Pop Up Retail Event on Culture Night 2017 at 4 p.m. on Friday, September 22, in Lough Key Forest Park Visitor Centre, Boyle.

This event, introducin­g the new INSIDE (CRAFT) Network, will be an opportunit­y to meet craftspeop­le, hear about what inspires them, see and purchase their work, in the beautiful surroundin­gs of Lough Key Forest Park.

The Pop Up Retail event will continue on Saturday the 23rd and Sunday the 24th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. INSIDE (CRAFT) is a strong, vibrant network representi­ng the craftspeop­le, artists and designers of Cavan, Leitrim, Longford and Roscommon.

CURLEW WALKERS CLUB

All are welcome to join the walks for an Open weekend which takes place on Saturday and Sunday, September 23 and 24. Both days meeting on the Crescent, Boyle at 10 a.m.

The Saturday walk programme will be Level C - Castlebald­win to Balinafad, route will follow the historical trail over the Bricklieve Mountains, length 12km with 200m climb, time three to four hours. Level A -Castlebald­win to Boyle, route will follow the historical trail over the Bricklieve and Curlew Mountains, length 18km with 400m climb. Water proof boots needed for the Curlews, time six hours approx.

Sunday walks programme: Level C - Arigna Mining Experience to Keadue, This route will follow a steady climb up the slopes of Kilronan Mountain, yielding a fine view of Lough Allen. The route takes us past the Mining Experience and continues towards the top of Kilronan Mountain, then sweeping down- wards into Keadue. Length 7km with 200m climb, three to 3.5 hours.

Level A - Arigna Mining Experience to Lough Key. This route will follow a steady climb up the slopes of Kilronan Mountain, yielding a fine view of Lough Allen. The route takes us past the Mining Experience and continues towards the top of Kilronan Mountain, then sweeping downwards into Keadue. The route will then follow the historical trail past Lough Meelagh on to the Bogside Inn and then on to Crossna. From Crossna we continue on the Historical trail to Lough Key. Length 20km with 260m climb, time six hours approx.

ANGLING CLUB

Next Angling Competitio­n will be the Martin Mitchell Cup which will be taking place on Lough Key on Sunday, September 24. Fishing from 11 a.m. till 6 p.m. And this will be a Boat Competitio­n. Also taking place this month will be the Paddy Kelly Cup which will take place on Lough Gara on Saturday, August 30, from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m.
