Sligo input into Repeal the Eight march

THE Abortion Rights Campaigns 6 th Annual March for Choice takes place on Saturday the 30 th of September in Dublin, assembling at the Garden of Remembrance on Parnell Square from 1.30pm, before a march on Dáil Éireann at 2pm

Sligo’s Abortion Rights group convenor Denise O’ Toole said:“The movement to repeal the 8th Amendment from the Irish constitution has gone from strength to strength. The Citizens’ Assembly report shows us the Irish people are prochoice. We are ready for change and a referendum.

“The Abortion Rights Campaign is an all-island grassroots movement for choice and change, campaigning for free safe and legal abortion access in Ireland and has over 25 Regional groups who are running buses to Dublin including Sligo.

“In 2016 29 women who gave Irish addresses travelled from Sligo, 38 from Mayo, 63 from Donegal, 21 from Leitrim to avail of safe and legal abortion health care that they are denied in Ireland and are also criminalised with a fourteen year prison sentence.”
