-

EU Minerals Day was on Friday 22nd September and in light of this fact the Europe Direct Centre based in Sligo Libraries invited a 6 th year Chemistry class from Summerhill College down to listen to an interesting lecture entitled ‘White Gold – Salt in the Iron Ages’.

The lecture explored all aspects of this important substance - ‘A white gold. You’re standing on it every day.

It is the only rock eaten by humans. Some cities exist only because of it, as well as having many physical everyday objects to hand for the students to study in person.

The lecture took place on Monday 18th September and was presented by Mr Mícheál Ó Cearbhalláin from IT Sligo.
