Racing season ends tomorrow

THE final fixture of the Sligo Races season takes place on Wednesday 27th September with a seven race all National Hunt Card consisting of seven steeplecha­ses. The first race begins at 2:15pm.

The Races include: 2.15 – The Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Beginners Steeplecha­se of €15,000;

2.50 – The Printfix Beginners Steeplecha­se of €12,500;

3.20 – The Maddens Bar & Restaurant Handicap Steeplecha­se of €20,000 (Feature Race);

3.55 – The Frank O’Beirne Memorial Beginners Steeplecha­se of €12,500;

4.30 – Congratula­tions to Derek Fox on Winning the Aintree Grand National from Sligo Races Stee- plechase of €14,500;

5.00 – The Leo McMorrow Novice Handicap Steeplecha­se of €12,500;

5.30 – The Brenda Anderson Memorial Handicap Steeplecha­se of €11,500 (Rated 0-109).

The total prize money on offer is €98,500. Kathryn Foley, Manager of Sligo Races said: “It is also Students Day at Sligo Races and we are looking forward to welcoming the students from Institute of Technology Sligo, St Angela’s College, Sligo, as well as students from other colleges. We are looking forward to a large turnout especially with the attractive National Hunt card on offer together with our students who are the racegoers of the future,” she added.
