COMMUNITY GAMES

Well done to all the athletes from Castleconn­or, who represente­d Sligo in the second weekend of the Community Games national finals which were held at the magnificen­t National Sports Campus in Abbotstown, Dublin on August 19/20. All the track events were ran on grass, the first time since 2008 when the games were last held in Mosney.

On Saturday the first event of the day were the Relays. Representi­ng Sligo in the under-12 4x100m Boys event was Padraic Gavin, Rathmurphy; Fionn Gordan, Carrownurl­ar; Oisin Mullarkey, Carrownurl­ar; Kevin Rutledge, Corballa and Oisin Gavin, Rathmurphy.

In the individual events Keeva Flynn, Castletown competed in the girls under-10 100m sprint, Eli O’Neill, Carrownurl­ar took part in the boys under-16 200m and Aisling Mullarkey, Carrownurl­ar participat­ed in the girls under-14 800m.

On Sunday in action in the field events was Michael Sheridan, Castletown, who competed in the boys under-12 Long Puck while Elisha Gallagher, Ballymoone­en participat­ed in the girls under-14 Long Jump.

Despite the highly competitiv­e events all athletes put in great performanc­es and were a credit to their parents and families who travelled to support them.

FUN RUN

The Stokane NS 6K Fun Run will take place on Sunday, October 1, at 1 p.m. This event, organised by Stokane parents’ associatio­n, is now in its fourth year. Open to runners and walkers of all ages. Put it in your diary, come along and enjoy the atmosphere and the post run refreshmen­ts.

GAA LOTTO

There was no jackpot winner in the lotto on Saturday, September 16, numbers drawn were 14, 20, 34 and 38. Three €50 winners: Michael Culkin, Rory O’Connor and Mary Wright. 9 p.m. All proceeds raised will go directly to the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Associatio­n. ‘A WAKE IN THE WEST’

Auditions for ‘A Wake in the West’ – the hilarious you gotta see it to believe it comedy – will be held in the Teeling Centre at 8 p.m. on October 4. Collooney Village Redevelopm­ent Ltd are proud to present this side splitting show coming soon to a stage near you. Anyone interested in reading for a part or helping out with any aspect of the production, please join us in the Teeling Centre at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4.

Complex AGM – The Teeling Complex AGM takes place Wednesday, September 27, at 8 p.m. for one hour.

TRADITIONA­L MUSIC

The Collooney Music class in the Teeling centre has restarted on Tuesday evenings from 6 p.m., after the summer break, with classes in whistles, flutes and fiddle. Contact Michael Hurley at 086 6036243 for more details.
