STUDENTS’ DAY AT THE RACES 2

SLIGO’S GOT TALENT

The final Sligo Races fixture of the season takes place on Wednesday 27th September with a seven race all National Hunt Card consisting of seven steeplecha­ses. The first race gets off at 2.15. Gates open at 12 noon. This is the student’s day at the races. More info on countyslig­oraces.com.

Sligo’s Got Talent in conjunctio­n with The Sligo Champion returns Friday 29th of September to the Garavogue Bar Sligo. Sligo’s Got Talent is open to anyone with a talent of any kind, may that be a solo artist, band, magician, dance crew, ventriloqu­ist or novelty act, maybe you have trained your dog to dance and talk? The Lucky winner of Sligo’s Got Talent will scoop a €10,000 cash prize. Sligos Got Talent runs every Friday night from the 29th September right through to the 1st of December.

The company that brought the award-winning fivestar show Fred & Alice are back with a new play, Janey Dillis - Queen of the Wild Inter…ior which they bring to the Hawk’s Well Theatre on Wednesday the 27th of September. DERMOT AND DAVE BECKETT HAZELWOOD

Today FM’s Dermot & Dave bring their ‘Ah Sure Lookit’ tour to the Clayton Hotel Sligo on September 29th. Tickets for the event are €29 and are available through Ticketmast­er.ie or at reception in the hotel.

Blue Raincoat, one of Ireland’s most celebrated theatre companies, and the only full-time ensemble in the country, present a signature off site theatrical event, Beckett Hazelwood, in the unique setting of the derelict Saehan factory in the middle of Hazelwood Demesne, Sligo. The show continues every night until Saturday night, from 8pm.

LEISURE CYCLE 40K AND 70K

Comedian David O’Doherty – the Aldi Bublé, the Ryanair Enya – is delighted to present an evening of his latest jokes and songs at The Hawk’s Well Theatre this Friday, September 29. David has spent the last year on tour round America with Flight of the Conchords and performed at the Edinburgh Fringe and Melbourne Comedy Festival.

A leisure cycle will take place on Sunday October 1st starting at the Beach Bar in conjunctio­n with Ballina Cycling Club. The 70k leaves at 10 am and the 40k begins 10.30am. Family cycle @ 12. 30pm. Lots of entertainm­ent and fun activities promised. Refreshmen­ts afterwards.
