Driver is jailed and banned for ten years
A 22-year-old man has been jailed for five months and banned from driving for ten years after being caught driving without insurance on three occasions.
Rene Makula, a native of Slovakia living in Frenchpark and formerly of Cnoc Na Si, Tubbercurry admitted not having insurance at Rathscanlon, Tubbercurry on August 11 th and December 20 th 2016 and also Carrowgubbadagh, Carraroe on July 29 th 2016.
Inspector Padraic Burke said the defendant was banned previously on October 6 th 2016 for one year for not having insurance. He was also banned for speeding in April this year.
Mr John Anderson, solicitor (defending) pleaded that the defendant, a father of one lived with his partner and was asking the court for one final chance and not to be sent to prison.
Judge Kevin Kilrane said the previous convictions were serious. Recognisances were fixed in the event of an appeal.
