Man (21) had pizza cutter

-

A man stopped and searched at 10.30pm on July 8th last was found to be in possession of a pizza cutter.

Gregory McMorrow of Caltragh Cresent was also charged with having a can of pepper spray on the same occasion but this was struck out at Sligo District Court last Thursday.

Inspector Padraic Burke said McMorrow was acting nervously when Gardaí spoke to him and they believed he was concealing something.

McMorrow told Gardaí that the knife was for his own protection but stated in court that he was referring to the pepper spray.

He stated that he had forgotten that the pizza cutter was in his pocket.

Mr Gerard McGovern, solicitor (defending) entered a plea to the offence. Judge Kevin Kilrane fined McMorrow €200.
