Kicked and damaged patrol van door

A young man who kicked the door of a patrol van following his early morning arrest was fined €200 at Sligo District Court. Dylan McLoughlin (20) of Stephen McDonagh Place brought €200 to court to pay for the damage he caused on April 30 th last. Inspector Padraic Burke said McLoughjli­n was arrested at 4am for the purpose of a search and was brought to Ballymote Garda Station but on the way to kicked the patrol van door with such force it warped. He has previous conviction­s. Mr Gerard McGovern, solicitor (defending) said the defendant couldn’t understand why he was being taken away in a van to Ballymote. “He thought he was being carted off to prison for no reason. No charge was ever brought as a result of the search,” he said.
