Riverstown - 311, up 8 on 2016

Riverstown achieved one of the highest marks in the county for tidiness and litter control. The village was praised for their emphasis on young people, on the schools involvement in the Green Flag awards and in sporting activities. The central streetscape was said to be “one of the best presented examples of a traditional Irish town-centre in all its aspects.”

Buildings singled out for praise included the Church of Byzantine, nearby National School, Community Hall, Folk Park, The Peace Garden, the Little Buddies play area and the Community Park.

“One gets a pleasant feel from all the entry points to the village.”
