Fined and banned

AT Sligo District Court, Aidan Walshe of Castle Heights, Easkey was fined €100 and banned from driving for two years after he admitted a charge of drunk driving at Easkey on August 13th 2016.

Inspector Padraic Burke said a sample from the defendant showed a reading of 213 mgs of alcohol per 100mls of urine.

Mr Peter Flynn, solicitor (defending), said the defendant (66) had taken his van into Easkey and was driving home when he was caught. He hadn’t driven since.

He was unmarried and was a retired machine driver.

At the same court, Kevin Gorman, Cloonagash­el, Ballymote was fined €300 for not having tax displayed at Culfadda on December 13th 2016. The court heard the tax was out since January of that year.

Mr Gerard McGovern, solicitor (defending) entered a plea to the offence.
