SYLWIA’S VICTORY

When the recent North Leitrim Men’s Group competitiv­e progressiv­e ‘25’ card drive ended in the Bee Park Community Centre in a blaze of excitement, Sylwia McCaffrey proved to be the star of the night when she successful­ly seen off the challenges of all other opponents to win.

The progressiv­e ‘25’ card drive’s second prize was shared between Pat Dolan (Father) Ted Rooney and Micheál Rooney. Joe McLoughlin took home the night’s progressiv­e ‘25’ card drive’s table prize.

Meantime the progressiv­e ‘25’ card drive’s raffle winners on the night were Tommy Wynn (first), Tommy McGourty (second) and Phil Glancy (third). Another North Leitrim Men’s Group progressiv­e ‘25’ card drive will take place in the Bee Park Community Centre on this Sunday night, October 8, at 9 p.m.

The Men’s Group cordially invite all card players to come along on this Sunday night, or any other Sunday night besides, when the card games are taking place. The jackpot prize on this Sunday night will be €300 on nine games while the usual excellent first, second and table progressiv­e ‘25’ card drive prizes will be on offer, as well as the three raffle prizes.

1916 MEMORIAL PLAQUE

As part of a special memorial celebratio­n event, the 19th Infantry Battalion Associatio­n are unveiling a 1916 Memorial Plaque on the Fairgreen Manorhamil­ton.

This is one of three plaques to be unveiled in the Sligo, Leitrim and Roscommon areas where the former 19th Battalion FCA covered. The unveiling events will commence on this Sunday, October 8, at 2 p.m. at the Castle Café Manorhamil­ton with a short history talk on North Leitrim in 1916.

The plaque unveiling will take place immediatel­y thereafter. Light refreshmen­ts will be available thereafter in Heraghty’s Bar, Main Street, Manorhamil­ton.

EANNA’S CALL-UP

Congratula­tions are extended to young Manor Rangers player, Eanna Clancy, who has been selected for FAI under-14 national developmen­t training on Sunday, October 22, at AUL Soccer Complex Clonshaugh Dublin. Best wishes are extended to Eanna at the national developmen­t training event.

FEEL GOOD CLUB

Following their summer break, the Glencar Feel Good Club returns to its full programme of interestin­g and stimulatin­g activities in the Glencar Community Centre, Diffreen on Monday, October 25, from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

All active retired people, both male and female, are very welcome to join the Glencar Feel Good Club and are cordially invited to come along to the Glencar Community Centre, Diffreen on the last Monday morning of October.

HOSPICE WALK

The North West Hospice Memorial Walk takes place on this Sunday, October 15, at midday in Sligo Town.

Everyone is invited to participat­e in the Hospice Memorial Walk in remembranc­e of a deceased family member, friend or work-colleague and celebrate their lives. Participan­ts, who register will receive personalis­ed T-shirts with the name of their loved one on the front.

This scenic walk will take place over a flat route less than 5km and is suitable for all ages and buggies. Please register online now at northwesth­ospice.ie or phone 071 9170523.
