NOREEN CAWLEY R.I.P.

The death has taken place of Noreen Cawley née Finnerty Rathedmond, Sligo and Carrowmacb­rine, Rathlee. She was predecease­d by her husband Micheál and is survived by her daughters Lisa and Aoife, sons Michael and Gavin, brother Michael, Carrowmacb­rine and sister Ann, Mullingar, in laws, nephews, nieces relatives and friends to whom sympathy is extended. Her funeral Mass took place in Sligo Cathedral on Saturday, September 23. Burial took place in Roslea Cemetry, Easkey.

TIDY TOWNS

Well done to Easkey, Rathlee and Dromore West, who increased their points in this year’s Tidy Towns competitio­n. Easkey got 275 an increase of eight points on last year, Rathlee 250 up by 13 points and Dromore West got 257 an increase of nine points. Well done to everyone who worked so hard during the year to achieve this.

COASTAL CHALLENGE

The organisers of this year’s Easkey Coastal Challenge wish to thank sincerely the following: the generous sponsors Cavanagh Meats, Michael Carr Meats, OMD Design, Mattie Coleman, Easkey Community Council and the Beach Bar for use of their premises, the Civil Defence and all who provided refreshmen­ts, the stewards and all who helped in any way. HOSPICE COFFEE THANKS

North West Hospice recently held a coffee morning in the Castle Inn, Easkey and raised €502. Thanks to all who helped and donated.

SAFE TALK TRAINING

A Safe Talk training programme that prepares participan­ts to identify persons with suicide thoughts and connect them to first aid resources will be held in Enniscrone on Tuesday, October 17, ,10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Contact Gregory at 087 6347707 to book a place in advance.

SCARECROW FESTIVAL

Easkey Scarecrow Festival will be held from October 26 to November 12.To have exhibits ready for Halloween it’s time to get started on your scarecrow which bring more and more people to Easkey each year to have a look at the masterpiec­es.

DEFIBRILLA­TOR TRAINING

A three-hour defibrilla­tor training course will be held in Easkey Community Centre in October. The course is free of charge. Interested people can text their name and the word easkey aed to 087 6650064.

LOTTO

There was no winner of the jackpot in the Easkey lotto draw on September 22. Numbers drawn were 3, 12, 19 and 30. €25 winners TJO’Brien, Joan Kilgannon, Mary Weir Snr., Leah Duffy and Noreen Weir. Promoter’s prize: Willie Brady. Next jackpot €1,300 and the draw will take place at the bingo in the community centre at 8.30 on Friday night. The lotto is available online at bit.ly/EaskeyCC.
