There was no winner of the €7,500 Jackpot. Congrats to our ‘Match 3’ winner Angela Torsney, Dromahair, who gets €100. Thanks to everyone who bought tickets and continues to support the club. As there was no Jackpot Winner this week, the Jackpot rolls over to €7,500. The next draw will take place in The Owenmore Inn on Monday 16th October.

EASTERN HARPS

DUE to the draw in last Sunday’s second semi-final, it is not known if it will be Tubbercurry or Tourlestrane that we will be facing. This will be the first time that our men’s team will contest the Senior Final since 2010. Manager Shane King, captain Martin Doherty and all the players and members of the backroom team have put in a huge effort this year to reach the final and it is hoped that a large number of supporters will turn out at Markievicz Park to support the team. In the lead up to the final Kieran McGill & Jimmy Casey have been busy flooding the area with flags, bunting, car flags, headbands and beanie hats. They still have some of these items available and they can be purchased by contacting either Kieran or Jimmy. It is hoped to have the Eastern Harps area decked out in as much green & white as possible in the lead up to the final but also to keep the flags out for both our boys and girls minor teams who also have County Finals of their own to be played in the coming weeks. On Sunday last, despite an excellent performance where they held the lead for long periods of the game, our U-16 girls lost out in their County Final to Shamrock Gaels on a score line of 3-11 to 2-08. Great credit is due to the girls for getting to the final and putting in the performance that they did and we also thank their coaches Deirdre Gillen, Eamonn Clarke and Neil Molloy for their dedication throughout the year. The latest draw in our Buy-A-Block fundraiser for the new clubhouse development which is ongoing at our grounds in Keash took place last Saturday evening. The winner of the item of garden equipment sponsored by East Brothers & Gardencare was Tara McDermottroe, Ballinafad. The main draw for over €4,500 worth of prizes takes place in November. The new clubhouse is proceeding well with some pictures of progress recently uploaded to our social media accounts but more funds are still needed to keep the project on track and anybody who would like to purchase some Buy-A-Block tickets can do so in most local business’ or through our website. We also thank the members of our U-16 girls team for their efforts in selling a large number of tickets in Ballymote last Saturday. Bingo in Gurteen Hall in association with Eastern Harps continues every Friday night. The jackpot for this coming Friday is €1,900 in 47 calls or less, with the lotto jackpot 1 standing at €1,000 and jackpot 2 at €500. On Sunday last, Boyle GAA Club honoured the late John Joe Nerney by unveiling a mural of him and dedicating the naming of their stand to his memory. John Joe is very fondly remembered in our area as he was the trainer of our first team to win a County Senior Championship in 1975. All in Eastern Harps were greatly saddened to hear of the recent passing of Mairead Davey. We extend our deepest sympathies to Mairead’s husband Sean and brother John, who were opponents of ours on the pitch on many occasions, and to all members of the Davey and Marren families.

CLOONACOOL

OUR Junior championship semi-final with Tourlestrane will be played on Saturday next in Bunninadden community park at 5.30pm. All support would be appreciated on the day, by the team and management. The U20 championship will be starting soon and training for this competition will start in the coming weeks. All players eligible and interested in playing in this competition are asked to contact club secretary Fergus Leonard as soon as possible. Anybody interested in representing the club in the up-coming Scór competitions should contact the chairperson or secretary in the coming weeks. Sympathy is extended to the family, relatives, and friends of the late Mairead Davey of Tubbercurry, who went to her eternal reward after a tragic accident while on holiday in Spain in recent weeks. Also to the family, relatives, and friends of the late Tommy Kilcoyne formerly of Corsallagh, who died recently in Lincolnshire England. May they rest in peace.

ENNISCRONE/KILGLASS

Surf and Turf is back!

The extremely popular Enniscrone Surf and Turf fun run is back for 2017 on Saturday, October 28th with a start time of 12pm. This has been a superb event in recent years and promises to be bigger and better again this October. We will once again have two courses available – a 3k for U-16s and 5k for 16 and above. As always there will be plenty of fun and challenging obstacles to keep our participants on their toes! We look forward to the event once again this year; for further details keep an eye on the Enniscrone Surf and Turf Facebook page.

U-13 Commiserations to our U-13s who exited the Féile competition at the semi-final stage after a 6-9 to 3-8 loss to Owenmore Gaels last Sunday morning. The team battled well but were ultimately beaten. The team showed very well throughout the competition, winning three games on route to the semi-finals. Thanks to the management team, players and parents for their efforts over the last month. Fundraising

An extra ten blocks and bricks have been released due to the enormous demand for sponsorship opportunities for our indoor astro turf complex. You can find all the details on our website, or contact any committee member. Thanks to everyone for the superb support.

Blotto

The blotto jackpot is now at its highest ever figure, now €12000. It continues every Saturday night – make sure you’re in the draw. If you’re not in, you can’t win!

ST FARNAN’S

THE Intermediate team will have to do it all again after drawing with St. John’s in the final, both sides scoring 1-9. The man of the match award went to Eamonn Kilgannon of St. Farnan’s.

Well done to the under 8/10’s who played at half time during the Intermediate final.

A big thank you to all our supporters, those who put up flags, bunting etc. Thanks to Sligo Construction Chicago and Airtricity for sponsorship of gear for the team.

Well done to Cormac Hallinan, winner of €180 in the 50/50 draw. The next draw is on October 22nd.

The club extends sympathy to the family, relatives and friends of the late Teena Connolly, London and formerly of Dromore West. The club also extends sympathy to the family, relatives and friends of the late Nancy Tempany, Templeboy. Nancy was grandmother of Stephen Tempany on our Intermediate panel and mother of the late St.Farnan’s player Stephen Tempany. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh siad.

LADIES: The Ladies Co. Board Dinner Dance which was held in the Clayton Hotel on Friday night last proved to be an enjoyable occasion. The event was celebrating twenty five years of Ladies Gaelic Football in the county and one of the highlights of the night was the naming of Tom Keane and Angela Doohan as the first two inductees to the newly formed Hall of Fame. Tom has been involved at many levels in the organisation since the beginning whilst Angela, who had the distinction of captaining her county to All-Ireland success in 2006, has played football at adult level for her club St. Nathy’s in each of the twenty five years, a truly remarkable achievement. Well done to both. The event also saw the presentation of medals to various county teams for successes achieved at both provincial and national level over the past three years. Club players Jacqui Mulligan, Leah Kelly, Claire Dunne, Rachel O’Brien, Roisin McHugh, Eimear Kearins, Sorcha and Allanah Cunnane were among those honoured on the night. Congratulations all around. The club’s clash with Owenmore Gaels in the U-14 “C” Championship decider will go ahead on Sunday next in Kent Park with a 12.30 pm throwin. It was in the same ground that we defeated Shamrock Gaels on Sept. 21st 2004 in the final of the same competition to claim what was the very first silverware to be won by our club. Please come out and support the girls on this big day for them. There was no luck for Deborah Kelly, Jacqui and Virginia Mulligan and their Coolera / Strandhill team mates in the Connacht Junior semi-final on Saturday last when they were outclassed by Tuam / Cortoon, a fate which regrettably is befalling most Sligo clubs in the provincial series in recent years. In fact since we ourselves were narrowly defeated by Galway side Annaghdown in the 2012 decider, no club from the county has reached the provincial final in any of the three adult grades. Congratulations to former club player Sinead Kilgannon and her fiancé Joe Callaghan, a native of London, on the occasion of the announcement of their engagement in Australia.

DRUMCLIFFE/ROSSES POINT

It’s a big week for our Junior men’s footballers as they take on St Molaise Gaels this Friday night (Oct 13th), under lights, at the Sligo GAA Centre of Excellence in the Junior ‘B’ Championship final. As they did in the league campaign, the team have reached the championship final unbeaten and would appreciate big club support at Scarden this Friday night for this county decider against our neighbours. Throw-in is at 8:30pm. We wish Paddy Gormley, James McTiernan and the players every success.

The venue for the senior team’s Belfry SFC relegation final against Curry is scheduled for this Saturday in Tourlestrane at 7:30pm. Saturday morning GAA nursery coaching will continue for two more weeks before wrapping up for 2017. Our end-of-season party will take place in Oxfield on Saturday morning, Oct 21st. Nursery coaches will communicate more info to parents about this event shortly. Drumcliffe Handball Club have started a new season of Saturday morning coaching in Oxfield. Coaching for players aged 6 up to adult (of all abilities) takes place every Saturday morning. See the Drumcliffe Handball Club’s Facebook page for more info.

Congratulations to North Sligo Athletic Club who celebrated their 40th anniversary with a very enjoyable Gala banquet in the Radisson Hotel last Friday night.

The club extends sympathy to Catherine Carroll on the passing of her mother Mary Kate Walshe (Tourlestrane) , and to the O’Dowd families (Kintogher & Urlar) following the death Kathleen Costello, grandmother of Alan O’Dowd.

TOURLESTRANE

TOURLESTRANE Gaa express their deepest sympathies to the Davey & Marren families on the tragic passing of Mairead who was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, relative and dear friend to many. Mairead brought joy to everyone who had the pleasure to know her and a light has gone out in the community. We also extend our sympathies to the family of Mary Kate Walshe, Banada who passed away peacefully during the week surrounded by her loving family . Mary Kate was the mother of former Tourlestrane club officer Austin Walshe. Ar dheis Dé go raibh siad.

Our u16 girls played a fantastic hour of football in Collooney on Sunday afternoon and claimed an A County Chanpionship when they beat St Mary’s girls by a goal at the full time whistle! Well done to the team with Anthony Brennan and Maureen Walsh at the helm on a great season which paid off splendidly today when you claimed the sought after prize.

Our Senior men were in Markievicz Park with the same kick off time this afternoon where they faced a hard working Tubbercurry team in the SFC semi final . The end result with the team swapping leads in the dying few minutes of a less exciting game than the one in Collooney, saw the teams level at the final whistle with a score line of 1/11 apiece and we face another meeting TBC. Some would say a lucky outcome for both teams. Our Junior men played Curry Sunday morning in Bunninadden in the junior Quarter final and this time saw Tourlestrane come out on top with a win by 2/9 to 8 points. Onwards to the semi final next weekend.

Hard luck to our u16 boys who never gave up but were beaten by a stronger St Mary’s team in their B County Final in Scarden having had a strong win last Tuesday night against Shamrock Gaels. Congratulations to St Mary’s county champions.

Commiserations also to our Féile boys beaten by a stronger Enniscrone/Kilglass team last Thursday.

The club is having a Golden Jubilee celebration of the Tourlestrane Minor county champion winning teams of 1967 and 1968 next weekend October 14th in The Yeats Hotel in Curry and it promises to be a great night of reminiscing!

ST MOLAISE GAELS

BEST wishes to our junior men’s squad who take on neighbours Drumcliffe/Rosses Point in the Junior B Championship final under floodlights in Scarden this Friday October 13th at 8.30pm. The opposition will be looking to secure a League and Championship double. Gaels defeated Coolera/ Strandhill in the semi-final and such has been the excellent work done with this Gaels squad by Manager McElligott ably assisted by Tommy McGowan and Brian White that an upset could be on the cards. Our Parish League Finals day took place on Saturday last. It was a brilliant conclusion to what has been another very successful year of Bord na nOg activity. Thanks to everyone who turned out on the day, to the Gilmartin, Gillen, Hoey and Herron families for presenting their Cups to our winning teams. Particular thanks to Charlie Brady for all the photos and to those who put such great work into organising the League Charlie Hegarty, Niall O’Connell and especially Ownie Coyle. Thanks also to all the Parents who provide refreshments for the day. On Sunday our U16 Girls put in a thrilling display before going down 4-13 to 5-06 against CT Gaels in the C Championship final in Connolly Park Collooney. We were eleven points behind at one stage but produced a fantastic comeback to get level with only five minutes remaining. Unfortunately CT Gaels were able to rally with a late goal and a point. Congratulations to the CT Gaels squad and Management. However it was a fantastic display from the St Molaise Girls and we congratulate them on an excellent championship campaign and also thank the Management Team of Gay Kelly, Nicola Hoey and Sorcha McLoughlin for their commitment all season. Our next Club Lotto Draw takes place on Monday next October 16th. The Jackpot is now 3,100 euros. Thanks to everyone in our Community for the continued generous support that the club receives for this critical fundraiser. Tickets are now available for our “Winter Warmer “Fundraising draw. Tickets are 5 euros for a book of 3 tickets and are available in Grange Post Office, Lissadell Fuels and any Committee Member. Draw will take place on November 6th. The Club extend our deepest sympathies to Sean Davey of Curry and Sligo GAA fame on the sad and tragic passing of his wife Mairead at such a young age. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sean and family and the Marren family and our colleagues in Curry GAA club.

ST MARY’S

OUR U16 Boys finished their Season in some style this week, when they won both the semi-final and final of their U16 B1Championship. The Semi-Final was played on the Monday and the lads had a comprehensive win over neighbours St Johns and this set up a final meeting with Tourlestrane on Sunday in Scarden. The two teams were well known to each other with Tourlestrane taking care of the St Marys challenge with ease in the league earlier on in the season and then St Marys fighting for championship survival pulled a victory from the jaws of defeat by the narrowest of margins in a hard fought victory in Kent Park on a wet and windy August evening. This final was set up for a thriller with two hard working sporting teams taking to the field. Tourlestrane got off to a blistering start and scored a goal and a point before St Marys responded. However St Marys hard work in defence thwarted the Tourlestrane attack and with great attacking play the St Marys marks-
