‘Without your commitment, support and hard work this would not have been achievable. Our next big outing this year will be our fundraising Christmas Monster Bingo on November 5. Hope to see you all there.’

MASTER’S DAUGHTER

Popular singer, Seán Keane will make a guest appearance at the ‘Master’s Daughter’ Benefit concert in aid of North West Hospice Sligo, which takes place in the Bee Park Community Centre Manorhamilton on this Friday night, October 13, at 8 p.m. in memory of the late Patsy Lennon of Rossinver, with proceeds going to the North West Hospice Sligo.

The Master’s Daughter is a tune that Maurice Lennon wrote some time ago to honour his mother. She was a daughter to John P Eames, Principal of Ballaghameehan National School for many years.

This tune has been recorded by Stockton’s Wing on their ‘Crooked Rose’ Album. The Lennon Family of Kiltyclogher origin are noted performers in the world of traditional music. Ben and Charlie are both Gradam award winners, among so many other accolades, including the ‘Freedom of Leitrim.’

Ben’s son, Maurice, has been honoured with the Freedom of Co Clare, he being a founder member of Stockton’s Wing and the band is celebrating 40 years in the business. Clare County Council in recognition of this achievement bestowed on Stockton’s Wing this honour in Ennis yesterday, October 9.

WILD ROSE FESTIVAL

Following the recently well-attended Manorhamilton Wild Rose Festival Committee meeting in the Bee Park Community Centre, it was decided that the five member Festival Steering Committee would draw up proposals for next year’s revived festival and report back to a full committee in a month’s time.

Thursday night’s meeting agreed that an Open Air Street Music event will take place during next year’s revived festival on the Friday night and on the Saturday night, along with Show Day events of the third weekend of July.

It is hoped that all organisations in Manorhamilton and its surrounds will play a big role in promoting events during next year’s revived Wild Rose Festival. Meantime the Wild Rose Festival Committee would like to receive proposals, as soon as possible, from all organisations in Manorhamilton and its surrounds regarding their participation in next year’s festival.

It is hoped that each organisation in Manorhamilton will discuss what part they would like to play in next year’s Festival and then make the Festival Committee aware their proposals.
