FUNDING ANNOUNCED

Sligo County Council in conjunctio­n with Easkey Community Council is delighted to announce the securing of €80,000 from Minister Michael Ring’s Department of Rural and Community Developmen­t under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme for a Community Garden and Enterprise Space Nature Trail and Associated Infrastruc­ture. Works on this exciting new project will commence in the near future.

YOUNG AT HEART

West Sligo ‘ Young at Heart’ meet every Thursday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Dromore West Community Centre. Craft classes start on October 26 for the following six weeks. New members always welcome.

LEAP GROUP

Easkey Leap group are taking part in the Lip Sync fundraiser with ‘Leap with the Two Lords a Leaping ‘and will hold a Fun Quiz night on Friday, October 20, at 9 p.m. in the Castle Inn. A Duck Race will be held at Pol Gorm on Sunday, November 5, at 12.30 all money raised going to the Sea Blues.

RAMBLING HOUSE

A Traditiona­l Rambling House Seisiun will take place on Saturday, October 14, at 9 p.m. in the Still Bar, Dromore West. A community based event to showcase the local talent in the area. WEDDING BELLS

Congratula­tions to Laura Flatley, Dromore West and Daniel Beirne, who were married in Dromore West Church on Friday, September 29. The reception was held in the Diamond Coast Hotel.

FINBARR KILGANNON R.I.P.

The death has taken place of Finbarr Kilgannon, one Ard Na Greine, Enniscrone and late of Pinewood, Carrowcur, Dromore West. His funeral Mass took place in the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour followed by burial in Churchill Cemetry. Sympathy is extended to his family and relatives.

SLEEP OUT’

A ‘Sleep Out’ to raise funds for Shine a Light Charity Event will be held at Feeneys, Dromore West on October 13 and 14 from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. The event is hosted by Tireragh Photograph­y Club in support of the homeless. BRIDGE CLUB

Enniscrone Bridge Club takes place every Wednesday in the Diamond Coast commencing at 7.30 p.m. Results for week October 4, first Moya Brogan and Marian Flynn, second Halogue Malone and Jackie Kilcullen.

LIP SYNC

Easkey GAA presents Lip Sync on Saturday, November 18, in the Diamond Coast Hotel, Enniscrone. There will be 12 groups of local volunteers taking part. All money raised will go to support the young, up-and-coming Sea Blues players, so please help by supporting all the fundraiser­s that each act will be having over the next few weeks.

ORANGE TIE BALL

Enniscrone has been chosen to host this year’s Cycle Against Suicide ‘Orange Tie Ball’ which will take place in the Diamond Coast Hotel on Saturday, November 11.

CAKE/BRIC-A-BRAC SALE

SAFE TALK

A Safe Talk training programme that prepares participan­ts to identify persons with suicide thoughts and connect them to first aid resources will be held in Enniscrone on Tuesday, October 17, ,10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Contact Gregory at 087 6347707 to book a place in advance.

SCARECROW FESTIVAL

Easkey Scarecrow Festival will be held from October 26 to November 12.To have exhibits ready for Halloween it’s time to get started on your scarecrow which bring more and more people to Easkey each year to have a look at the masterpiec­es.

HALLOWEEN KIDS’ DISCO

A Halloween children’s fancy dress disco will be held in Dromore West community centre on Tuesday, October 31 – 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The disco will include ghoulish games and spooky snacks. Proceed to the refurbishm­ent of the Dromore West playground.

LOTTO

There was no winner of the jackpot in the Easkey lotto draw on September 29. Numbers drawn were 10, 18, 27 and 35. €25 winners: Alan Tuffy, Easkey GA A., Rosalie Mitchell, Dara Timpson and Aileen Cowley Promoter’s prize: Tony Jones.
