Carbury make it six wins out of six

STRAND Celtic won well at home in the Sligo Southern Hotel Super League to Leitrim kingpins Manor Rangers on Saturday night in the Super League.

An excellent performanc­e by the Seasider’s after two very poor results beating a plucky Manor side by five goals to one. It was against the run of play when strand opened the scoring with a goal from Aaron O’Boyle.

The goal steadied strand and two goals from poacher Ryan Lynch left strand three up at half time. Manor had the elements at their back for the second half but a clinical strand killed off the game with further goals from Lee Marshall and Daniel Lang. Brian McDonald got a well-deserved consolatio­n goal in the last few minutes for Manor Rangers.

Ballisodar­e United at home to Ballygawle­y Celtic took the lead when club stalwart Kevin O’Hara rose highest to head home after seven minutes. Conor Davey was put through one on one after twenty minutes and slotted past the on-rushing keeper. four minutes later and Adam McGoldrick calmly finished to make it three nil to Ballisodar­e. Conor Davey grabbed his second of the game with a superb individual effort and completed his hat trick with a bullet header on the thirty-eight minutes’.

Davey got his fourth goal of the game after five minutes later to make it six nil to Ballisodar­e at half time. The second half was a tame affair in comparison with Kevin O Hara netting his second goal of the day ten minutes from time that seen Ballisodar­e United run out seven goals winners.

Carbury continued their winning form winning well away to Riverstown boys Arrow Harps. Leading scorer Ibrahim Savage scored the only goal of the first half for Carbury who shifted through the gears in the second half Ross Mc Loughlin making it two nil and Gareth Kelly rounded things off for Carbury with two clinical finishes to ease the league leaders forward.

Ballymote Celtic at home to Aughanagh Celtic at Brother Walfrid Park went down by the odd goal in three. Aughanagh Celtic took the lead courtesy of Dermot Beggan and Ballymote Celtic levelled matters with a goal from the hitman Mark Irwin. The game was nip and tuck until two minutes from time when the man with the Midas touch Paul Mc Tiernan snatched victory for Aughanagh Celtic with a superb finish.

Calry Bohs played St Johns at the Astro in Cleveragh and were hit for three goals without reply. Evan Davey making only his second start opened the scoring for St Johns on twelve minutes and it remained like this at the break. The second half was eight minutes old when David Heffernan received his marching orders from referee Emma Cleary after picking up his second yellow card this left St Johns with ten men and a battle on their hands. However they stayed solid and were rewarded eleven minutes from time when once again Malachy Spratt delivered the vital strike and a minute into injury time Malachy Spratt completed a fine performanc­e nailing the vital third goal for a delighted St Johns.

The big clash in The Andrew Mullens Sligo Pallets Premier League saw north Sligo pace setter’s Cliffoney Celtic welcome league leader’s Cartron United to Mullaghmor­e. The home side took the lead midway through the first half with a fine goal from Bartley Clancy a lead that lasted until ten minutes from full time when Gavin Mc Donagh stepped up to crack home a glorious equaliser that earned Carton United a share of the spoils.

Merville United continued their advance hitting seven in their encounter with Dromore Villa. Tyler Stallard cracking home a hat trick Ryan Hargadon grabbing two goals with a goal each from Joe Spratt and Stephen Hansberry completing the scoring for high flying Merville United now in second place on the leader board and with games in hand. The Villa scored twice with a goal each from Michael and Colm Connolly.

Glenview Stars were made to fight all the way for this victory at home to Real Tubber it a battle Royal. Keith Carty opened for Stars with a goal each from Damien Shannon and Daniel Kelly keeping them in touch. While the vastly improved Real Tubber had strikes from Odhran Killoran Eoin Walsh and David Regan that had the sides level late into the game. But then up stepped Keith Carty to hit two late goals completing his hat trick and taking all three points for a jubilant Glenview Stars.

MCR continue their rise hitting five without reply away to Coolaney United Ciaran Harvey netting a hat trick and Joe Cobbe scoring twice against his old club that wrapped all three points for MCR.

Oscar Traynor Team Manager and his staff continue their preparatio­ns with a friendly game against Summerhill College Senior team this Wednesday night 18th of October KO 7.30pm at the Ray Mac Sharry Complex and training sessions next Friday night at the same venue weather permitting. The game v Galway will take place at Mac Sharry Park on Sunday 29th October KO 2pm. There are no other games scheduled for the weekend of this match. MacSharry Complex
