Grassroots initiative for facilities in Maugherow

A new campaign is being mounted to get better youth facilities in Maugherow.

Nigel Gallagher of People Before Profit and his sister Donna Harte sent out a public survey over the summer months asking locals what they wanted for their area.

The general consensus was that people wanted a new playground, a new football pitch and a local Youth Club.

The community are also hoping to establish a community garden to grow vegetables and an inter-generational project involving young and older people.

“We had a great turn out of about 50 people on 4 th of October so this week we’ ll be putting people into definitive working groups,” said Nigel.

Maugherow Community Services next Public Meeting takes place tomorrow, Wednesday October 25 th at 7.30pm in Maugherow Hall beside the Church. Everyone is welcome to attend.
