Tracker Mortgage scam victims must be compensated, says Martin Kenny TD
SINN Féin TD for Sligo Martin Kenny said yesterday (Monday) that the Minister for Finance, Paschal Donohue, must stand up for the victims of the tracker mortgage scam perpetrated by the banks.
Deputy Kenny said:“First of all, the minister should reverse the decision in 2014 to allow the banks to pay no corporation tax for 20 years. They are back in profit and we have bailed them out already. Now, after perpetrating a terrible wrong on customers whose lives were ruined and some of them lost their homes, the banks are making out that it is a very complicated process to reimburse them and compensate them. This is total rubbish. It is not complicated and the minister should use the power he has to make the banks comply now and ensure that these people are looked after before Christmas.”
