Man (30) placed on probation for year over deviant incident
A 30-year-old man has been placed on probation for a year after engaging in what Sligo District Court heard was deviant behaviour.
Enda Fallon from Coolbock, Riverstown admitted a charge of threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour at Barrack Street on March 28th 2016 and to the distribution of material which was abusive at Applegreen Service Station, Pearse Road on July 21st 2016.
Inspector Dennis Harrington told the court that at Barrack Street on March 28th at around 8.30pm a woman and child saw the defendant engaged in inappropriate behaviour in his parked car and reported the matter to Gardaí.
The car left the area shortly afterwards and the defendant was subsequently identified.
At around 6.30pm on July 21st the defendant was at Applegreen service station where a woman in a nearby car had got out and went over to use the ATM.
The defendant wrote a note of an explicit nature and left in on the windscreen of the woman’s car which she discovered on her return. Fallon was subsequently interviewed and he admitted the offences. Mr Mark Mullaney, solicitor (defending) pleaded that the defendant was experiencing mental health difficulties at the time. He did not have any previous convictions and was very remorseful for his behaviour. He had complied with the directions of the probation service.
Judge Kevin Kilrane said the defendant had engaged in a worrying pattern of sexual deviancy.
The probation report stated there was a moderate risk of re-offending. Fallon was placed on probation for 12 months and ordered to co-operate and comply with all conditions of the probation service.
