Ran from the Gardaí and headed off to nightclub

-

A 21-year-old man who ran off when approached by Gardaí called to a disturbance turned up three hours later outside a nightclub and was apprehended.

Tiernan Doherty of Annaduff Glebe, Drumsa faced charges of intoxication and with giving a false name and address along with possession of €30 worth of cannabis herb.

Inspector Dennis Harrington said Gardaí were called to Yeats Village to assist with security when they met the defendant who became verbally abusive and refused to give his details. He fled the scene but three hours later was spotted outside a nightclub at Thomas Street.

He dropped something from his hand to the ground and tried to stand on it. It turned out to be cannabis herb.

Doherty said the incident was influenced by alcohol and that he wasn’t someone who got into trouble normally.

The defendant, who had no previous convictions, had his case adjourned to May 31st for monitoring and he was remanded on bail.
