-

CARTRON United league leaders in the Andrew Mullens Sligo Pallets Premier League were home again to Real Tubber as their grounds were unplayable. These sides last met each other three weeks ago when Cartron ravished Real Tubber by seven goals to one. On form this was David v Goliath with Carton cruising on top and Real Tubber with one point in ninth position. However, someone forgot to read Real Tubber the script they were in blistering form and looking the real deal in their new strip sponsored by Michael Foley in Foleys Bar Tubbercurry. Not alone did they look the part but they delivered in spades in a cracker of a game. Both teams were level at the half way stage and Cartron took the lead through Ronan Foley five minutes into the second half. Real Tubber levelled matters on 70 minutes courtesy of Jack Walsh and then took the lead ten minutes from time when Fabio Cretaro fired them ahead. Their joy looked to be short lived when Cartron were awarded a penalty four minutes later but Real Tubber net minder Mark Burke who had an outstanding game saved brilliantly and with time running out up stepped Cian Ginty to put the icing on the cake with a third goal for a jubilant Real Tubber.

North Sligo kingpins Cliffoney Celtic would have been topping the table had they won at home to Coolaney United but it was not to be in a day of shocks in the Premier League.

The first goal of the game fell to Cliffoney Celtic after 65 minutes of play but the celebrations did not last long because three minutes later Coolaney levelled the game with Paul Clarke pouncing to grab a vital goal for Coolaney United that gave them a share of the spoils.

The Manor boys took the lead on 20 minutes with Niall Walsh on target and a minute from the break it was 2-0 when Alan Hickey was on hand to fire home. St Johns once again showed their fighting spirit and were back in the fight on 60 minutes when leading scorer Malachy Spratt brought his tally to ten league goals with a clinical finish. However the Manor Boys were not to be outgunned and ten minutes from time Brian McDonald scored the third goal that wrapped up the points for a vastly improved Manor Rangers.

Calry Bohs shared the points in a game that perhaps they should have won at home Ballymote Celtic in a match that seen all the action and goals come in the second half. But ten minutes from time Ballymote Celtic were back in the fray when Jack Hever threw them a lifeline. Ballymote kept pegging away but it looked all over for them but on the stroke of fulltime goal poacher supreme Mark Irwin stepped up to hammer home a glorious equaliser for a Ballymote Celtic side that never gave up despite the odds.

Aughanagh Celtic shared the spoils at home to Ballygawley Celtic. Dermot Beggan put Aughanagh Celtic ahead in the first half with a fine goal. They held this lead until 20 minutes from time when Gary Fowley drew Ballygawley Celtic with an excellent goal that ensured a share of the spoils in a game that in fact with a rub of the green Ballygawley Celtic should have won.

In the FAI Junior Cup Merville United with a bullet header from Ben McGarry, a sublime finish from Jordan Harte and a third goal from Conor Cox defeated St Johns Athletic who scored through John Drummond.
