€14k raised for Hospice by family

ONE Sligo family raised €14,500 in aid of the North West Hospice at their annual memorial walk.

The McDonagh family walked in memory of their father Brian through Doorly Park on Sunday 15 th October.

Over 450 other people took part in the walk, all raising their own funds in memory of a loved one. The final figure has yet to be published by the organisers.

“We were very proud as a family to wear our t-shirts in Brian’s name,” said the McDonagh family afterwards. Brian died two years ago and was cared for at the hospice.

“What an achievemen­t, together we raised over €14,500. Thank-you so much to everyone who took sponsorshi­p cards, who donated so generously to this worthy cause and who chose to walk in Brian’s memory.

“The Memorial Walk was a great opportunit­y for us as a family to remember Brian with the other families who chose to walk in memory of their loved ones. Thank you everyone.

“Brian would be so proud of his family & friends,” they said.
