Hannah’s work chosen for Hull City of Culture closing event
A talented Sligo artist was selected to participate in a recent Macnas ‘Engineers of Imagination’ initiative.
The programme, sponsored by Bank of Ireland, saw ten of Ireland’s most exciting and emerging visual artists brought to Galway for a month-long programme.
Hannah Dobson from Sligo, a graduate from IADT with a BA in Design for Stage and Screen Character Makeup Design, was one of the ten students chosen from hundreds of applications for the mentoring programme last month.
Hannah, along with students from Louth, Galway, Dublin and Mayo were mentored by experienced Macnas designers and worked alongside them to create pieces featured in Halloween parades which took place in Galway on 29 th October and in Dublin on 30 th October.
The students’ work will also feature in the closing event for the European City of Culture in Hull.
Macnas CEO Noeline Kavanagh said: “We are looking forward to the culmination of this project as part of our 2020 visionary epic event.”
