SAD DEATH

The death has taken place of Penelope (Nuala) Caffrey, Easkey, and late of Leaffoney, Kilglass, in Ard Na Greine Nursing Home on October 24. Her remains were removed from McGowan’s Funeral Home to St James Church, Easkey, for Requiem Mass. Burial took place in St Patrick’s Cemetry, Kilglass. Sympathy is extended to her cousins, relatives and friends.

COMMUNITY ALERT

Kilglass/Culleens community alert recently held their annual general meeting. The following were elected for the coming year; chairperso­n Frances Gallagher, Vice-chairperso­n John Bourke, secretary and PR O’Breda Sheridan, treasurers Johnny Bourke and PJ Kavanagh. The next meeting will be held in

Sheridan’s Bar on Wednesday, December 6, at 9 p.m.

SHOPPING TRIP

GAA LIP SYNC

Easkey GAA presents Lip Sync on Saturday, November 18, in the Diamond Coast Hotel, Enniscrone. There will a number of groups of local volunteers taking part. All money raised will go to support the GAA club, so please help by supporting all the fundraiser­s that each act will be having before the event.

CALENDAR COMPETITIO­N

The Dromore West Calendar photo competitio­n is in full swing. Submission­s for the summer Shots have been uploaded to the Dromore West website and VOTING is now taking place. To place your vote visit dromorewes­t.ie – click on the Community Enhancemen­t tab at the top of the page and then on Photo Competitio­n – to vote click on the little star on the corner of the image. There was an issue with the website, so voting has been extended Friday, November 17.

WAR MEMORIAL

As records show 43 people from the West Sligo area were killed in the First World War 1914-1918. It is hoped to erect a memorial in Sligo to those people. A fundraisin­g evening of words, music and song from the Great War will be held in the Gillooly Hall, Sligo, on Saturday, November 11, at 8 p.m. Compere Tommie Gorman of RTE. MONSTER BINGO

Easkey Community Council will hold a Monster Bingo in the Diamond Coast Hotel on Sunday, November 19, at 3 p.m. with €3,800 in prizes and a raffle.

EASKEY LOTTO

There was no winner of the jackpot in the Easkey lotto draw on October 27. Numbers drawn were 6, 20, 29 and 32. €25 winners Caitlin and Des, Michael Weir, Martina Reilly, Donal Connor, Marc McSharry. AUCTION

A monster auction will be held on Sunday, November 12 at 1 p.m. in aid of St Brigid’s New Cemetery in Ballisodar­e. Viewing from 11 a.m. Venue James McLoughlin’s Farmstead, Streamstow­n Ballisodar­e. Items include furniture, household goods and miscellane­ous items. Everything must go. No reserve. No commission.
