PARENT’S ASSOCIATIO­N:

The Parent’s Associatio­n of Achonry National School held their AGM recently. School Principal Ms. Cora Kivlehan addressed the meeting giving a detailed account of the academic programmes currently the school. The committee for 2017 was elected and we hope they will get your support for the coming year. It was decided to go ahead with the annual Clothes Collection (dates to follow) So let’s start packing those bags and pass the word on to extended family, neighbours and friends and put in a big effort.

PARISH COMMITTEE

Flower bulb planting continues to take place and all help is appreciate­d. This is an excellent idea and one which will provide a glorious visual enhancemen­t at various locations and junctions around the parish next Spring.

QUIZ NIGHT

Coolaney/Mullinabre­ena GAA are hosting a table quiz on Friday Nov. 19th in The Happy Landing at 9.30pm. Great prizes on the night. All support is greatly appreciate­d.

GURTEEN

CAROLS BY CANDLELIGH­T: Candels by candleligh­t 2017 in Cloonloo Church -rehearsals began on November 1 from 7 -8.Twenty five +participan­ts required -adults and children. All children must be accompanie­d by an adult. Concert will be on Sunday December 17 at 7.30pm. Directed by Roisin Egan and accompanis­t Leonard Dorrian .

WARRIOR CHALLENGE

The Stonepark Warrior Challenge 2017 will be on Sunday November 12 at 11am at Cloonloo Hall. Event consists of a 30km cycle & / or 8km run/walk. Entry fee is optional and all funds raised will be donated to Stop Suicide and local amenities. Last year a defibrilla­tor was installed at Cloonloo Church and funds for training of a number of locals in life support. Your support is greatly appreciate­d. Refreshmen­ts given. Cemetery Prayers will be held on Sunday November 12 at Templerona­n at 3pm and Killaraght Old Cemetery at 2.15BINGO: Usual bingo on Friday night in Gurteen Hall at 8.30pm.
