The Model presents ‘Undercurrents’ winter music series latest concert this Friday November 10th, 2017 at 8 pm. Italian born, Dublin based jazz pianist Francesco Turrisi re-imagines sean nós melodies with traditional Irish singer Róisín Elsafty and Emer Mayock on flute and uilleann pipes.

The Count, The Countess & The Tommy is a musical show written by RTE’s Myles Dungan. Starring international soloists Simon Morgan and Lisa Lambe (Celtic Woman), this hugely-entertaining show features popular songs and stories from the Ireland of the Rising era, centering on the life and works of the celebrated Irish tenor John, Count McCormack, who went to school in Summerhill College. The Coleman Music Centre presents Phil Coulter at St. Patrick’s Church, Gurteen as part of his nationwide tour on Sunday, November 12th at 8pm. For two nights, Friday and Saturday, local musician Kieran Quinn is playing a special concert in the Hawk’s Well. Titled Our Place, it features some favourites from Kieran’s renowned theme nights featuring singers and musicians such as Tabby Callahan, Marie Conway, Sandy Kelly, Sharon Conway, Seamie O’Dowd, John-Joe Kelly, Niamh Crowley, Steve Kohlmann, Tommy Moore, Georgie Gorman, Jane Tansey, Maev Gallagher, Kelan Walsh and Luke Devaney.

Sligo Film Society’s season of films is continuing in the Model. This Thursday sees the showing of Neruda, a Spanish/French film about the life of Pablo Neruda. It’s a fascinating insight into the Chilean’s political poetry.

The seafood night fundraiser for Sligo Bay Lifeboat will be held on Friday in the Strand Bar, hosted by the crew of Sligo Bay Lifeboat. Tickets €15 and are available on the door. From 9pm.
