Funding for new WDR link road

Funding for the Western Distributor Road is expected to be allocated in Januar y.

Cllr Marie Casserly said that she received information regarding the project l ast Monday following the Sligo County Council meeting, which indicated that government funding will be for thcoming in the new year.

Cllr Casserly said she had been told the road would be a “top priorit y in Sligo and funding would be made available to advance the project”.

The matter had been the subject of a li vely debate at l ast week’s County Council meeting, where some councillors expressed concern that the project had not been specifically mentioned in l ast month’s budget.

However, Director of Infrastructure, Environment and Fire Ser vices Tom Kilfeather informed the meeting that allocations for specific project s usually came through in Januar y.
