The Sligo Champion

A taste for acting with the Hawk’s Well’s ‘Sligo Acts’

-

CALLING all those interested in acting! The Hawk’s Well Theatre are launching an exciting new drama programme for adults, Sligo Acts, with an introductory workshop taking place at the theatre on Sunday the 19 th of November from 2-5pm.

Some years ago, the theatre devised their hugely successful Sligo Sings! programme. Now in its third year, this initiative has encouraged singers of all abilities and levels to come together in a non-competitive environment. This programme focuses on participation, inclusiveness and, most of all, enjoyment.

Inspired by this great success and the positive feedback from the ongoing Acting for Adults courses which have been running at the theatre for the last couple of years (hosted by theatre artist-in-residence, Bob Kelly and more recently, by Sligo Youth Theatre director, Jean Marie Perinetti) a similar programme for those interested in drama, Sligo Acts will take place in 2018.

Suitable for ages 18 and upwards, this fun acting programme is suitable for all levels of experience - those with plenty of performances under their belt and those just starting to tread the boards. Whether participants are into classical theatre or improvisation, they are encouraged to come along and take part in this fun acting programme. Rehearsals for Sligo Acts will take place at the theatre from January to March 2018, culminating in a performance on Sunday 11 March 2018.

Those interested in this project are asked to register their interest with the theatre before attending the introductory workshop on Sunday 19 th of November. They can visit www. hawkswell.com, e-mail maeve@hawkswell.com for more information on this project.
