Cutting dangerous trees
Sligo County Council will endeavour to identify dangerous trees along roadsides that may need to be cut down. That was the response of Director of Infrastructure, Environment and Fire Services Tom Kilfeather to Cllr Margaret Gormley’s motion to carry out a survey of dangerous trees and request that landowners cut them down if required. Cllr Gormley said it was particularly important now after the recent Storm Ophelia saw many trees fall across the country, causing the death of three people nationwide. The motion was widely supported by other members.
