Safety measures for Ballinacarrow
Cllr Dara Mulvey welcomed confirmation that Sligo County Council will soon begin remedial works on traffic safety measures on the N17 in Ballinacarrow village.
Having previously met with engineers and visited the site, Cllr Mulvey stated that parents had expressed concerns about speed of traffic from both the Tubbercurry and Sligo directions, and the safety for children and parents who have to access the national school there, as well as the playground, creche and community centre.
Director of Services Tom Kilfeather told Cllr Mulvey that after concerns were relayed to Transport Infrastructure Ireland and a feasibility report conducted, and that plans were now in place to go to the construction phase in late 2017 or early 2018.
The news was welcomed by Cllr Mulvey and Cllr Margaret Gormley.
