Bowlers win in Westport
SLIGO Bowling Club had a very successful week at the recent Nationals in Westport.
Out of 40 participating teams, Sligo’s Maureen Meehan and Jimmy McMorrow were the winners in the pairs competition, flying the flag for their club.
Maureen and Jimmy were on a winning streak with both being in the finals of the fours competition on opposing sides.
Jimmy’s team came out on top with Maureen’s team coming a close second 6 points to 5.
Therese Costello from the Sligo Club was on the winning team with the highest score, beating their opponents 14 points to nil.
John Costello was also on a winning team representing the Sligo Indoor bowls club. The contestants were praised for their performances during the competition. Maureen Meehan, from the Sligo club, said they are now preparing for the next event.
“We now look forward to our next competition outing in the Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill.”
