LOTTO DRAW

The Geevagh Community Resource lotto draw was held in Paddy’s Bar on Saturday, November 4, for a jackpot of €9,700. The numbers drawn were 2, 7, 16 and 21. There was no winner. The next draw for a jackpot of €9,800 will be held on Saturday, November 11, in Des McDonagh’s Bar. The winners of €20 each were Geraldine Cunnane, Geevagh; Séamus Mullaney, Geevagh; Daniel Cullen, Geevagh; Mona Conlon, Geevagh and Martin McCawley, Geevagh.

HIGHWOOD TABLE QUIZ

The Highwood Community Centre fundraisin­g table quiz will take place on Saturday, November 18, at 9 p.m. in Des McDonagh’s Pub. Refreshmen­ts will be provided and lots of prizes on the night. Tables of four are €20. Your support would be greatly appreciate­d.

FLOWER ARRANGING

Gleann ICA are hosting flower arranging classes on November 15, 22 and 29 at 8 p.m. in Gleann Community Centre. Non – members are most welcome. Refreshmen­ts will be served.

MEN’S SHED

The Men’s Shed are running a How Do Wire Your Trailer Course in the old Community Centre, Geevagh.

The course aims to give participan­ts an overview and step by step guide to solving problems connected with lights. We are hoping to develop the course into farm equipment in due course. So if you are fed up of the long nights and watching Fair City come along and try it out. There is a fee of €20 to cover materials costs. All enquires call the office at 071 9165577.

HEALTH COURSE

CLASP in partnershi­p with Sligo ETB will be delivering a part time Fetac Level 5 Health Course in Gleann in January, if anyone is interested please call us to reserve a place at 071 9165577. The course is delivered over two years and participan­ts graduate with a full certified qualificat­ion in health care which is now required for all homecare positions.

BOOK LAUNCH

Maureen Harkin recently realised her lifelong ambition when she published her first book. Maureen is a native of Geevagh and is the former Maureen Harte, who was born and reared in Car- rownadargn­ey.

A large crowd turned out for the official launch by Marion Harkin, MEP in the City Hotel, Sligo. Maureen donated €5 from the sale of books on the night to the Sligo branch of Cystic Fibrosis. ‘Love you Ma’ is available in Liber and Eason bookshops in O’Connell St and from the shop in Cartron. We wish Maureen every success in the new chapter in her life.

WALKING CLUB AGM

Carran walking club will hold its AGM in Tearman Bríd in Highwood on Wednesday, November 15, at 7.30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. The club’s next outing is on Sunday, November 19, It’s a 10k walk in Union Wood. Meet at Geevagh at 10 a.m. New members are always welcome.

TALK

Tirerrill Historical Society will host a talk in Tearman Bríd on Monday, November 27, at 8 p.m. The illustrate­d talk, on the graves in Kilmactran­ny old cemetery, will be presented by Peter O’Rourke and Marian McMunn.
