Claims HSE is providing respite in Hotels

SINN Féin TD for Sligo/Leitrim Martin Kenny asked the Taoiseach what he plans to do to address the lack of respite services and CAMHs services for people in this area.

Deputy Kenny said: “Families are fighting for these services for years now and all we are seeing is one controversy after another.

“There is a lack of qualified personnel in CAMHs, Solas respite centre closed, and issues regarding mental health services in St John ’s hospital. “We now hear the HSE is providing respite services in a hotel in Sligo. This raises a number of questions.

“Does the hotel know that the rooms been hired by the HSE are for the purpose of providing respite services?

“Is the hotel HIQA approved? “Does the hotel have the necessary equipment required for providing respite services?

“The Taoiseach says there is more funding allocated to these services for 2018, but what these families need is a proper facility for respite services and they need it now.”
