New speed limit bye laws for housing estates

SLIGO County Council propose to introduce a special speed limit of 30km/h on public roads in a number of housing estates in the county. The new limits will come into effect on 1st January 2018.

Director of Services for Infrastructure, Environment and Fire Services Tom Kilfeather said: “Safety should always be of paramount importance for drivers, whether on open public roads or in our housing estates. The new bye laws will provide for new slow-zones in many of our housing estates and should encourage drivers to take extra caution in these busy areas.”
